Kanchenjunga Region lies in eastern Nepal bordering India with Sikkim and Darjeeling. Since 1988 it is opened for international trekkers but still a restricted area. This Region’s most highlight is Mount Kanchenjunga (8,586 meters), 3rd highest mountain in the world after Mount K2. Besides it, there are popular trekking destinations like Pang Pema (Kanchenjunga North Base Camp), Oktong (Kanchenjunga South Base Camp), Olangchung Gola Trek, and Lumba Sumba Trek. This region is home to ethnic groups like highland natives of Sherpa and lowland natives of Limbhu and Rai people.

This area itself is a conservation area i.e Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Project (KCAP). Currently, the World Wild Fund (WWF) is running a project of Red Panda and Snow Leopard conservation with collaboration with KCAP. The main purpose of trekking in this region is to view the Kanchenjunga itself and to experience the diverse culture of different ethnic groups.  There are other gigantic peaks like Kumbokarna, Kabru, Yalung, Sikkim peak, and many more.
