Dhaulagiri Region is mainly within the Myagdi district of western Nepal and dominated by the Massif Dhaulagiri, the 7th highest mountain in the world. Dhaulagiri is derived from a Sanskrit word that means “Beautiful Dazzling White.” Because of its popularity, you will find the same name for its Zone. This region belongs to less-traveled destinations in Nepal that bordering with three districts of Dolpa, Mustang, and Baglung. Besides the Dhaulagiri Himal, it is also home to a dozen mountains above 7000 meters Such as.

Nepal’s sole hunting reserve, Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve also lies within this region where the Tibetan people settled there for decades. On the west of Dhaulagiri ranges, there are countless scenic highland villages such as Gurja Khani, a hidden village that lies on the lap of Gurja Himal (South face). Gurja village is densely formed by a total of 230 households approximately. Here people are Chantyal and Bishwakarma who were migrated there for copper mining.  Trekking in the Dhaulagiri regions is only possible during the peak season of spring and autumn. Some villages provide basic homestay service but camping trek is highly advised in major trekking destinations like Dhaulagiri Circuit
